|Spurs ace reveals how Jan Vertonghen reacted to being ruled out through injury until December
| ลิ้ ง sbo Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is "devastated" by his injury setback, Toby Alderweireld has revealed. The Belgian international has not featured for Spurs since being substituted with a hamstring problem in the 45th minute during a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the end of last month. As a result, he was left out of Roberto Martinez's latest Belgium squad to be assessed by the medical staff at Tottenham.
An update was provided by the club on Thursday afternoon and it's not good news for supporters as Vertonghen faces up to over a month on the sidelines. A statement issued on the club's official website said: "Jan Vertonghen sustained a hamstring injury against Hudderfield Town on 29 September, which has been monitored closely over the past 12 days.
"Further investigation ลิ้ ง sbo has shown a good initial response to rehabilitation. The Belgium international defender will now continue his recovery with a view to returning to full training by December." Alderweireld, who is is preparing for Belgium's UEFA Nations League games against Switzerland and the Netherlands, had some words of encouragement for his compatriot and revealed his teammates' reaction to the news.
“He is devastated he can’t play but will try to come back as quickly as possible,” Alderweireld told Sky Sports. “If you’re injured it’s always mentally hard. He will get through this and ลิ้ ง sbo become stronger.” Vertonghen is set to miss the Premier League games against West Ham, Manchester City, Chelsea as well as the Champions League encounters against PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan.Furthermore, he is now a serious doubt for the December games against north London rivals Arsenal and the return game to Barcelona at the Camp Nou.
